  • 2014 HBA of Metro Mobile Parade of Homes Showcase Kitchen

We are always amazed at what can be accomplished in a short amount of time when you have the right people with the best products, awesome attitudes and a goal of absolute perfection. That's what Paul and Mellanie Hildesheim accomplished in their 2014 HBA of Metro Mobile Parade of Homes Showcase House, located in the Alabaster neighborhood of West Mobile. We are honored to have been able to play a small part in their masterpiece.

Coast Design Kitchen & Bath's very own {super talented!} Dwain Arterburn worked with the builders to design their dream kitchen, with cabinets that are as beautifully flawless as they are functional, and an island big enough for entertaining and casual dining. We love Gallery Homes' choice of dark floors and light counter tops with pendant lighting.

The Mobile, Alabama 2014 Parade of Homes kicks off on October 16 for a Preview Party and private viewing of the Showcase House. All of the houses on Parade open to the public on October 18 and will remain open the following weekend.

  • Fog and Graphite Kitchen

This Coast Design kitchen was designed and created for custom home builder Marquis Properties by our very talented designer Dwain Arterburn. It's located in the Avalon subdivision in Daphne, Alabama. We used Integrity Cabinets with a Capital door style and a paint finish. The primary cabinet color in the kitchen is Fog and the island color is Graphite. We love the look of the over-sized island. It opens up the floor plan and draws plenty of oohs and ahhs!

The beverage center/wet bar is located in the dining area, adjacent to the kitchen. It's still being installed (hence the missing under counter appliance!), but we can already tell that it's going to be perfect. The contrast of the Integrity Cabinets in Fog against the dark counter top and warm backsplash is part of what sets this design apart.

We love the finish Marquis chose for their master bathroom cabinets and tub surround.

  • Big City Kitchen with a Rustic Feel

Today's inspiration comes from the pages of Kitchen & Bath Design News featuring a Chicago Big City kitchen with a rustic, suburban feel. It features a Viking range and ventilation hood, 30' Viking refrigerator and a separate 30' Viking freezer giving this family plenty of food storage but maintaining a sophisticated look.

It also features a large kitchen island which is as functional as it is fabulous, with plenty of seating, a built-in wine refrigerator and a second sink. The designer mentioned something that caught our attention and we feel it's worth passing on to our readers and clients; it can be tricky to find the perfect countertop slab that can accommodate an island of this magnitude, so it's often practical to pick out your countertop prior to finalizing your cabinetry order so you won't find yourself in a fix down the road.

Do you love this design? Pin it and bring your inspiration(s) with you for your first appointment with one of our talented kitchen designers at our cabinet and appliance showroom in Mobile, Alabama. We love combining your inspirations, creativity and vision with proven, functional design elements to create a kitchen that's right for YOU.

We're also proud to offer the very best in appliance brands, including the Viking range, fridge and freezer featured above.

  • Friday Feature: Bright Light Kitchen

Today's kitchen inspiration stopped us dead in our tracks. We couldn't look away. It was too perfect.

This kitchen embodies all that is popular and on trend in kitchen design right now. It features bright, white cabinets, a vaulted white ceiling and natural light for days. The skylights, windows, and french doors give this kitchen an airy, warm vibe. And forget fluorescent lighting! This kitchen pulls off the large pendant lighting trend with ease. We love the large, rectangular island with paneling to match the cabinets and tops that are in perfect contrast to the woodgrain, butcher block counter tops flanking the cooktop across the aisle. The modern stainless steel appliances take a kitchen with a french country feel and brings it forward into the now. The design blends cabinets, drawers of varying depth, and open shelving and pairs perfectly with the custom vent hood.

Feeling inspired to replicate this look in your new kitchen? Give us a call or stop by our showroom at 5253 Hwy 90 W in Mobile, Alabama. Our designers would love to hear your vision and get you started on the path to your dream kitchen. Our goal is to make the process not only easy, but fun too!

  • Southern Kitchen Inspiration

Today's kitchen inspiration comes from Trisha Troutz' blog. We love this Atlanta kitchen for SO many reasons! It encompasses almost every element of style that is popular (read: requested!) in Southern kitchen design at the moment. From the bright white cabinetry and counter tops to the lucite pulls and open shelving, this kitchen is a dream. The pin lighting, beadboard ceiling, and over-the-top hood are some of the details that make this kitchen pop. The wall of windows casting gorgeous light throughout the room doesn't hurt either! The homeowners' personal style shines through in the decor, backsplash, and lighting accessories.

Do you love this kitchen? It can be yours and we can help.

  • Historic Downtown Mobile Kitchen Remodel

Built in the late 1800's, this home is listed on the National Register of Historic Homes of America. Known as one of the "twins" or les Jemuelles, the property is located in the historic district of De Tonti Square in downtown Mobile, Alabama. The client wanted an upscale, yet casual, feel to the space. We accomplished this by the use of color, materials, and texture, while still maintaining many of the home's original qualities. The original brick pavers on the floor were refinished and restored, and the original plaster walls received a fresh coat of paint in a soft grey color, which preserved the true architecture of the home. New Crema Marfil tumbled tile laid in a brick patter was used for a backsplash, as well as under-cabinet lighting.

Designer Anne Hans-vanMeter and the client choseWellborn Estate Cusom Collection cabinets, which blended well with the historic nature and quality of this home. For the kitchen perimeter and wet bar area, the Melrose door was selected in Pebble Java finish and for the island we chose Maple Espresso.

The refrigerator and gas stove were relocated, adding a better flow and function to the space and updated to modern professional appliances of a 36" Gas Viking and a built-in Bosch refrigerator. The island was designed to resemble a large furniture piece with chunky mission legs, and utilizes all drawers facing the sink side for optimal storage.

The upper cabinets now go to the 9' ceiling with glass doors, and the crown moulding runs the entire perimeter of the room, similar to the original kitchen. For the wet bar area, a Viking wine chiller was added and glass doors in the upper cabinets to compliment the client's beautiful glassware and accessories.

For more information about this kitchen, or to find out how we can create a space like this for you, please give us a call to set up and appointment or stop by our showroom on Hwy 90 in Mobile, Alabama.
